Ending: Happy

Everyone arrives to confront Sir gareth and Lady Hester. Amanda's fiancee, Captain Kendal after finding out the truth gives Amanda a huge scolding, and makes her apologize. He decides to confront Amanda's grandfather, the General. However, the General insist that Sir Gareth has compromised Amanda and demands that he has to marry Amanda to protect her reputation. Lady Hester's brother, Lord Widmore then also insist that Sir Gareth has also compromised Lady Hester. Sir Gareth explains that he has done neither Captain Kendal then finally makes it clear that Amanda will be his wife, even if the captain were to withhold his consent
After everybody has left, and the inn back to peaceful condition, Sir Gareth asks if Lady Hester could consent to marry him ,the second time And this time its different, as he has really fallen in love with her. Assured that it's really love, Lady Hester finally says YES.
What I like: Lady Hester is an older heroine.
What I don't like: How can so much action between Sir Gareth and Amanda happen in just a day or two?
AND, Sir Gareth and Lady Hester's interaction is only at the front and back of the book.. The middle is dominated by Amanda's adventures.
